The Smoking Map of Britain

The number of smokers in Great Britain has halved over the past 20 years1. However, around 7 million people continue to smoke. This interactive map shows the average prevalence of smoking in Britain by constituency.

The Government has committed to reducing smoking prevalence in England to 5% or below to achieve a smokefree generation2. However, forecasts suggest this may not be achieved until 2040 unless further action is taken3. This should include more effective communication to existing smokers about the range of smoke-free alternatives available.
